The 6th Annual Westchester, NY Pet Adoption Fair and Expo
The 6th Annual Pet Adoption Fair & Expo was great success. Over 1,100 people attended the event. And 75 pets found new homes.
We were glad that so many new rescue groups joined the event; one notable one was “A Helping Wing” that does bird rescue. You can see the photo of some of the beautiful birds they brought, they also gave a very informative talk and demonstration on the care of birds and that also parrots are not for everyone and are truly a lifelong commitment.
Once again this year there was a lot for people to see and do. Great seminars and demonstrations; Port Chester Obedience always puts on a great agility demonstration as does The Animal Behavior Center’s Loren Manzel..this year she taught us all how to speak D.O.G. and making training our four legged companions easier. Our friends at the Mount Vernon Police K-9 unit were one of the most popular demonstrations as usual. And of course face painting and balloon making was a big hit with the children…see our little lion face child with a Pomeranian from Tiny Treasures.
But while the fun and education aspect is important our goal is adoptions!! And this year we had 75 to date. We say to date because each year rescue groups and animal shelters tell us that people who saw them at the Pet Fair often come to adopt even a month later. Each year we hear from all of these wonderful people helping to save animal’s lives that the event also helps get their name out there with prospective adopters but also to help with their fund raising efforts.
We also need to salute our vendors and sponsors without their support this event could not take place each year. Please support these merchants it helps if you also let them know that you appreciate their being involved in the Westchester Pet Adoption Fair & Expo. We want to give a special “Shout Out” to PetCo they have been with us since the very humble beginnings of this event.
